Samy Vellu & The Truth Of Chapati

A Twitter message by someone going by the name “Dato Seri Samy Vellu” is going viral over the social networking site.

In his Twitter message posted under the account @DsamyVellu yesterday, “Dato Seri Samy Vellu” said “wife complaints I never do any work so I promised to cook dinner. She was surprised when I cooked capati and kept my promise. Janji Dicapati.”

The rib-tickling message received a huge response and “Dato Seri Samy Vellu” received over 1,500 followers overnight.

Two hours after the tweet message was posted, fellow Twitter netizen Michael Xavier Voon said, “Hey @DsamyVellu, loved your capati comment…looking forward to more and right on to stage with MACC (Malaysian Association of Chinese Comedians).

An hour later, one who goes by the name Candysabella Edward said “whoever is behind @DsamyVellu, even if he himself tweeting, salute. Keep on giving crack and u’ll get your menteri job back, perhaps. Hahaha.”

The overwhelming response from his “Janji Dicapati” message even surprised “Dato Seri Samy Vellu” when he responded today by saying, “aiyo! 1,500 + followers dalam satu hari? All because I cooked capati for my wife. Free capati for all of you! (Bila saya jadi balik menteri).

The message is seen as poking fun at the controversial Merdeka Day theme for this year, Janji Ditepati.

When contacted, former minister and ex-MIC president S Samy Vellu’s aide E Sivabalan said that the former does not own a Twitter account.

Samy Vellu became MIC president in 1979 and became one of the longest serving Cabinet minister in the country.

He lost his ministership in 2008 when he was defeated during the 2008 election. Subsequently, he relinquished his party presidency in 2010 to make way for his deputy G Palanivel.
